Annapurna Base Camp to Sinuwa
The return journey begins but not before an eventfully evening and early morning, one of the group members condition had worsened over night and have to be moved to a lower attitude at around midnight. With Machhapuchhare Base Camp to far to walk at that time of night, the guide (Kevin) and assistant guide (Pujsi) camped out with her around 60m below base camp overnight, in minus conditions as well. At dawn she was walked down to MBC where she recovered fine. Another bad night sleep for us, but one of the many toilet stops at night revealed that the sky was clear and the mountain surrounded bowl we were in would be on form at dawn. And so it was, we got a 360 degree view of the amazing mountains that make up the Annapurna range. Breakfast was full of tales of images captured that morning until a helicopter broke the morning quiet, which then had Mark and Charlie out on the “Helipad” with porridge in hand to get a close up look and a chat with the pilot who let them watch him takeoff from behind a rock about 2 meters away, no H&S here! Very very exciting for some. After that it was time to pack up and head back the way we came (downhill mainly this time!) The group as a whole had decided to push on an extra 2 hours today so we have a short day tomorrow. It made for a bloody long day not arriving in Sinuwa until around 5 after leaving at 8:30 this morning, although we were stuck behind a herd of high country sheep at around 3000m for while! Dinner at 7:30 tonight with alcohol back on the menu after the high altitude stretch is now complete, with bedtimes lately being around 8pm!
