Annapurna – Day 2

Tikne Dhunga to Ghorepani (2800m)

Early start at 6:30 for some porridge and then off by 7:30, pretty much vertically for the first 1.5 hours! Even the sun’s early rays was enough to bring on buckets of sweat in combination with the climb. In the end it was worth it, we were rewarded with views of Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhare) at our lunchtime stop (although Mark was almost lost when he missed the morning tea stop). From there it was a trek through the jungle with a final climb up to Ghorepa where we should have been treated to our first views of the Annapurna Range.  Sadly the cloud put paid to that, but the brief glimpses before sunset through the clouds promised there was something spectacular behind the them.
