Bhaktapur

We spent a day and a night in this little city a few miles down the valley from Kathmandu. A medieval city of artisans weavers and potters, so much so that everything including the streets are made out of the red stuff, straight off it looks much more pleasing on he eye after the ramshackle style of Kathmandu. Spent lunch watching some kite flying (the national pastime for Nepali boys – more to follow on this at some point) over the Durbar Square and then wandered the streets and temples of the centre. Well worth the admission price –  you have to pay £7 to enter it, which goes towards the restoration and upkeep of the city. If its not a UNESCO site then it should be! Although the drum players currently going full tilt banging up and down the streets could be toned down especially when you have a bus to catch at 5.30 tomorrow morning. We stayed in Bhadgaon Guest House nice place looking straight over a small pagoda.
